GibbonIf you are still not sure which slackline kit to choose, I have several tips for you – just follow the next lines and we`ll reveal together which set will fit your needs the best.

  • When I started slacklining, I bought the 15m Gibbon Classic slackline set – and I would recommend it for the most of you. Beginners or experienced, children or adults, this kit is universal and great for everyone.
  • If your main intention is buying the slackline for your kids or if you are a complete beginner, think about the Gibbon Funline.Mammut
  • If you already have some experience with slackline and prefer action style, lot of jumps etc, go for Gibbon Jibline.
  • And for even more experienced slackliners I would recommend the Mammut slackline set.

As I have written earlier, the Mammut uses different rigging system – it`s more complicated that the Gibbon but provides more control and even more safety because you can remove the ratchet.

Tree protectionAlways remember to protect the trees when slacklining – you can cause a lot of damage to the tree bark and even to your gear. Proper tree protection is a habit of every true slackliner and is not difficult at all – you can use basic stuff like cardboard or carpet (see the picture). Cardboard is easier to get but I will recommend carpet if you have the possibility – it lasts longer and rain or snow will not destroy it.

Gibbon treewearAlso – Gibbon manufactures a special kind of tree protection called the "Treewear". It consists of two pieces large enough to protect the trees, they also come with a velcro for easier attachment. If you have some extra cash, go for it – it`s worth the price. You can BUY the Treewear here .

And be sure to use only healthy and thick (at least 12 inches in diameter) trees with a hard bark for slacklining.

Slacklining with your kids is one of the best things you can do – I guarantee that they will love it! Just set the line up in your garden, park or over the swimming pool (try it, it`s incredibly funny :) ) and have fun!

The Gibbon Funline is designed especially for this purpose – the line is less bouncy and therefore even safer for the little slackliners. Also the enhanced rubber grip will help them, just don`t let  the kids set the line up by themselves (or at least check everything is as it should be).

There is also a short movie about Funline on Youtube, check it out:
